Nephew Killed Uncle During Domestic Dispute In Maryland Home, Police Say

A domestic-related shooting left one dead and one behind bars following an incident in Prince George's County, according to police.

James Savoy, 40, has been arrested and charged in connection to the murder of his uncle, 69-year-old George Savoy during a domestic dispute that was reported over the weekend.

Both men are from Brandywine.

According to police, at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, members of the Prince George's County Police Department were called to the 13900 block of Old Indian Head Road in Brandywine, where there were reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, they found George Savoy suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, while James Savoy was located in the area several hours after the shooting by a police K9, officials said.

The investigation determined that James Savoy allegedly shot his uncle during a dispute, though details of their disagreement have not been released. 

James Savoy was charged with first- and second-degree murder and other related offenses He is being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
